A unique collaboration presented itself recently after years of concern for the pet population and underserved pet loving locals. Year after year driving through our hometown I have seen an increase of puppies, dogs, kittens and cats. Mostly, I see a need for services just driving down the main stretch in NSJ.

A few months ago I was asked by our lovely Pastor Pinkie to assist her in picking up and distributing pet food in NSJ. I was delighted to help in any way I could. Being able to provide a service that keeps people with their pets has brought so much joy and love into my heart. I have seen first hand the love and devotion of these pet owners and strongly believe that no one deserves to lose their pet because they have fallen on hard times…actually quite the opposite, their pet most times keep them going.

Recently I decided to reach out to Patti Galle with Nevada County Pets in Need who had been donating the food for distribution in NSJ. Knowing Patti and her devotion to keeping owners and their pets together I had high hopes that more could be offered along with pet food distribution. With a warm and willing heart Patti agreed to partner with me and I am so delighted to announce that soon we will have our very own Nevada County Pets In Need distribution site here on the Ridge! We will be providing services on a  bi-weekly  basis on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at the North San Juan Fire Hall from 9am to noon. Over time we will be offering everything from spay and neuter, flea/tick medication, vaccines, heartworm preventative, jackets, food and other essentials.

On behalf Nevada County Pets in Need and Ruff Pack Refuge we are excited about this wonderful journey before us and we look forward to years of service and friendship to come.
