by Diana Pasquini, San Juan Ridge Family Resource Center
Due to funding cuts, the San Juan Ridge Family Resource Center’s schedule will change dramatically during the month of July. Although Children’s Playgroup will continue as usual on Tuesdays from 10am to noon, there will be NO regular services available during our children’s SPORTS CAMPS. (See complete schedule below.) Once the camps are over, we will revert to our regular schedule, with the exception of Fridays. The Family Resource Center will be closed every Friday from now on.
Although our funding and staffing has decreased, we intend to do our best to continue to provide services to our community. Children’s Playgroups are a top priority and will remain a Tuesday morning tradition. Access to the food pantry, clothes closet, computers, FAX and phone will remain available during open hours, as will seasonal access to firewood.
An essential ingredient to the success of our programs is our continued stewardship of the beautiful and historic Oak Tree Campus; and it is our avowed intention to keep it clean and well-tended. We also intend to find a way to continue and expand children’s activities, including visual and performing arts classes and Games Day; and we hope to continue to host events that build, educate, and serve our community.
We realize that the decrease in hours may be a difficult transition for some, especially those who visit on a drop in basis and have come to rely upon our doors being open eight hours a day, five days a week. Once August arrives, we will return to a more regular schedule and be open four full days a week. In the meantime we ask for your patience and support.
