The library celebrated its one year anniversary in June, and our new book kiosk, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and party! We had a lovely time with snow cones and cupcakes in the freshly cared for front yard. Supervisor Hank Weston came to introduce the kiosk, as well as Laura Pappani, our county librarian. So much appreciation to the team of volunteers who spent their time building beautiful flower boxes (Michaelle Kellerman), weed-whacking (Fox Firemaker), Manny Garrison, Jess Frapier, Deanna Puetz, Roo Cantada, Shannon Cueva Little, and Eric Stifter for cleaning awnings, bathroom, and a sundry other jobs that needed done, to Jennifer Staves for Pizza, Ed Boast for paint and brushes, to Stormy Nelson of Head Start for all her support and donations of punch ingredients to our birthday party! We have so much appreciation for all the sweethearts who have donated in so many ways to our awesome library endeavor. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Our kiosk is stocked with adult and juvenile best-sellers, and current materials. You’ll need a county library card to use it. This enables you to check out a book at any time, plus you’re able to return it in our book drop if we’re closed. We are grateful for receiving a grant from the Northern Sierra Air Quality district for the kiosk. As we are still a 100% volunteer run organization, we have an ongoing need for funding, so any and all monetary donations are welcome, and tax-deductable!

June has flown by and we’re into July with our new Summer Reading ProgramA Magic Reading game! When you come to the Library, we’ll get you started. You’ll learn the simple rules of the game and on weekly visits you will fill in a magic spread sheet, learn a magic trick, dip into a magic hat for a prize, and decorate our Magic Tree with “read” leaves. In September there’ll be a Magic Show and Party and children will receive a beautiful color chart of their summer’s reading.

The Tapestry Project is ongoing in the backroom T 1-3pm, and Thu 10-12pm. To sit and stitch is to be a part of these evolving works of wonder. It’s beautiful, and all are welcome.
