There’s always something happening at the Library…

As we put another fundraiser behind us we'd like to thank all the folks who contributed to this wonderful event. The "February Folk Feast" was an impeccable evening with high quality food, beer and of course, the famous Joe Craven. For those that missed this wonderful evening, be assured that we will have more events at the beautiful Shady Creek venue. I would like to personally thank all the volunteers of the library, it's board, and of course our patrons: Board members Shannon Cueva, Julie Childs, and Jessica Randolph, volunteers Bethany, Mike and Garth, Ol' Republic Brewery,  KVMR, the Ridge Cafe, Mother Truckers, bands Bodacious with Syd and Antar, and of course the amazing  Joe Craven and Bruce Macmillian. James Heyser provided sound and Manny and Doug helped with entertainment and decorations. Special thanks to the folks that bought tickets!

As for current news, the weather has brought in so many visitors this past month and we are issuing more cards than ever, up to over 660! With an extensive book and DVD collection( over 10,000 items!) , we are quickly becoming a great place to whittle away hours or stock up on entertainment for the next storm.  We are still waiting for news from Nevada County Library in regards to Measure A funding and what it means for the Ridge. In the meantime, the  County Library has been conducting a series of surveys to assess  library needs. Thanks if you already filled one out, if not go to the library's link on www.mynevadacounty.com and comment if you feel compelled.

In other news, we are looking forward to some author visits in the next few months including favorite schoolteacher Ken Harris, illustrious artist Randi Griffiths, Hilary Smith, a new local YA author and  maybe some others.  The mural on our building is nearing completion and  looks amazing.  Grace Mack, the artist, we love you and are so grateful for the color you bring to the park and the library. Keep up the good work! Thanks again to all the wonderful staff that keeps the library going on a day to day basis, Mary Moore, Ruth, Laura Savage, Julie Childs, Shannon Cueva, the tapestry ladies, and all the wonderful patrons. You really make it happen at your library!
