Community Library Update

by Mary Moore, San Juan Ridge Community Library

It seems like every month we have some exciting news to share! This month we are proud to announce THE ANNEX, a community space that will be utilized by the library for programs, events, classes, overflow internet space and more! The old modular office building that sits behind the library and next to Head Start has been only used for storage due to its extreme disrepair. In the next year, we will demolish the old building and replace it almost entirely, to include a foundation and a lovely view of the pond.  We have partnered with Oak Tree Park and Recreation District as well as the Nevada County Friends of the Library to fund this significant improvement! We will be seeking volunteers for the demolition of old building as well as contractors to help with renovation. We also are seeking materials such as flooring, windows, lumber, roofing, etc. Since the space is roughly 500 sq ft, the amount of materials will be minimal. The space will be open, without interior walls, to maximize the usability of the space to its fullest extent.

Seed Swap March 14th 12-3pm

Come check out our new SEED LIBRARY and participate in our first ever Seed Swap! The concept of a seed library is simple: bring in your seeds, catalog them (flower or veggie) and take home others to grow. Once you grow them, bring them back and replace and share. You don’t need to bring seeds to participate, only a willingness to try! Thanks to Ruby Turple and Honey Circle Farms for her help in getting this off the ground (pun intended!)
