San Juan Ridge Family Resource Center volunteer Charlotte des Tombe is always willing to lend a helping hand. She has played her violin for young children and their parents, assisted kids with a colorful art project and engaged in outdoor parachute play with FRC’s Children’s Playgroups. She has bagged up edible commodities, shelved nonperishable foods, assisted customers in the Oak Tree Food Pantry, and folded, sorted and artfully displayed clothing in FRC’s Clothes Closet. Whether engaged in menial repetitive duties or stimulating, creative ones, Charlotte performs each and every job with a bright smile and a kind word for all.

In addition to being a busy 6th grade student in Yuba River Charter School’s Home Study Program, Charlotte is a baker, musician, ballet dancer, horseback rider, and softball player. She also creates and circulates a family newspaper to members of her sizable clan. Charlotte’s family has made its home on the Ridge and engaged in service to the San Juan Ridge community for three generations. When Charlotte needed to do a community service project to qualify for participation in YRC’s Medieval Games program, her parents sent her this way. She explained, “My parents recommended the FRC. I realized that it was a nice place. They help people with getting clothes and food. Helping people in the food pantry has been my favorite part of volunteering. Even though I have finished required volunteering I would like to continue volunteering at the FRC because it is a fulfilling activity.” Thank you, Charlotte, for your excellent service!
