The time has finally come for a FARMERS MARKET on the RIDGE and it is irresistible! For those who grow food and those who consume it, a local Farmers Market is very happy news. On Tuesday, July 24th, the North San Juan Certified Farmers Market was inaugurated with a grand opening dinner and music, as well as a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and grass fed meats for sale at the North San Juan Community Center.“I’m really excited about people having access to fresh food that they don’t have to drive a half hour into town for,” said NSJ Community Center Board President Avani Leitz. “Being able to develop a relationship with local farms is really exciting for us!” Fog Dog Farm, Dhillon Farm, and Legacy Ranching were on hand to vend their products to grateful shoppers at the first market. It is hoped that more farmers, as well as other vendors, will join the Farmers Market as the weekly event evolves. “We’re looking for craft vendors and more farmers,” explained Farmers Market Manager Shari Brookler. Then surveying the event she added, “This is a sweet scene.”
