Ridge Connections Newsletter

The Family Resource Center publishes a free monthly newsletter, Ridge Connections, and distributes print copies to the public through local schools, area businesses and organizations. Ridge Connections features original articles on a variety of topics like child development, community events and issues, education and wellness.  

Referrals and Information

Visitors may drop-in or schedule appointments with staff to receive confidential information and referrals.

Playgroup & Oak Tree Open Lodge

Join other families with young children for Playgroup Tuesday mornings 10 am-12 pm for play, crafts, stories, songs, snacks & activities. Or stop by Thursdays 10 am- 12 pm for Oak Tree Open Lodge for active play. Both playgroup and Open Lodge are drop-in programs; no registration required. These programs are for families with children ages 0-5. Older siblings are welcome to attend.


Classes and Events

The Center hosts periodic classes and events for children and adults. Please contact us for a current list of such activities or see our calendar for more information on upcoming events.

Summer Camps

We host summer camps for children ages 5-12. Please call for details.


Laundry Station

Our laundry station features a washer and dryer. A requested donation of $4 covers the costs associated with this service. You must schedule an appointment to use the station.

Food Pantry

We offer residents of the San Juan Ridge food from our food pantry during the following hours, upon request; Monday 10-5, Tuesday 1-5, Wednesday & Thursday 9-5 (there is no access to the food pantry during Tuesday morning's playgroup). Donations of non-perishable food are gratefully accepted.

Community Clothes Closet

The clothes closet offers clothing and shoes for babies, children and adults. Seasonally, we offer winter jackets, gloves, hats, and boots for all sizes.

We gratefully accept donations of gently-used baby, children's or adult clothing, jackets, and shoes during our regular hours.

Due to space limitations, please donate toys, stuffed animals, furniture, appliances, and other household items elsewhere.

Computers, Fax & Phone

We have computers with high-speed connections available for public use. If time permits during your visit, we offer assistance with basic computer skills like creating and using an email account, creating a word document and searching the internet.

A printer and fax machine, as well as telephone, are also available for use.

Lending Library

The Family Resource Center is home to a lending library for children and adults. Children’s books include board books, picture books and books for young readers.

For adults, there are sections on pregnancy, childbirth and parenting, as well as health and wellness and assorted fiction and non-fiction titles.

Emergency Firewood

Through the generosity of community donations, we are distributing emergency rations of firewood on a first come, first served basis to those in need.
